Discord
The official ProxyTracer integration for Discord. Bring enterprise-grade IP intelligence to your community server to detect and block headless bots, VPNs, datacenters, and proxies before they gain access to your server.
Our official Discord bot offers seamless onboarding, single-use anti-hijack verification tokens, and zero-logs privacy architecture to keep your community safe while maintaining GDPR compliance.
Why Use the ProxyTracer Discord Bot?
- Anti-Hijack Verification Tokens: Verification links expire in 15 minutes and are cryptographically locked to the specific Discord user (
discord_user.id == created_by). If a malicious user attempts to share the link or use it on another account, it will automatically block them. - Custom Block Actions: Choose how to handle detected VPNs and proxies: automatically
kickthe user from the server or issue a permanentban. - Zero-Logs Architecture: IP addresses are processed in-memory at our EU edge nodes and discarded immediately. We keep absolutely zero logs of your members’ IP activity.
- Automated hCaptcha: Eliminate automated clickers and headless browsers during the verification process with integrated hCaptcha protection.
- DM & System Alerts: Automatically DMs the server owner and notifies system channels when ProxyTracer credits run out.
Setup Guide
Configuring ProxyTracer on your Discord server takes less than 60 seconds.
1. Invite the Bot & Configure Roles
First, invite the ProxyTracer bot to your server by visiting the ProxyTracer Discord Bot page. (Note: You will still need to grab your API key from the ProxyTracer Dashboard later in the setup process).
CRITICAL: You must place the ProxyTracer bot role above your @Verified role in your Server Settings > Roles menu! Discord’s API permissions restrict bots from managing any role that is equal to or higher than their own highest role. Failure to move the role will result in an HTTP 50013 Missing Permissions error.
2. Configure Channel Permissions
To create a seamless user experience, you should hide the verification channel once a user has successfully verified:
- Deny
@everyonethe View Channels permission globally. - Allow your
@Verifiedrole the View Channels permission globally. - In your
#verify-herechannel permissions, explicitly set@everyoneto ALLOW and@Verifiedto DENY.
Once a user completes verification, the #verify-here channel will automatically disappear from their sidebar!
3. Run the Initial Setup Command
In your Discord server, run the /setup slash command. This requires Administrator permissions.
/setup api_key:<your_proxytracer_key> verified_role:<@Verified> verification_channel:<#verify-here> [action:kick|ban]This securely stores your API key, target role, target channel, and enforcement action.
4. Deploy the Verification Panel
Run the deployment command in your #verify-here channel to post the interactive verification embed for new members to click:
/verification postSlash Commands Reference

Troubleshooting
Q: Why isn’t the bot giving the @Verified role?
A: This is almost always a role hierarchy issue. Go to Server Settings > Roles and drag the ProxyTracer role above the @Verified role.
Q: What happens if I run out of API credits?
A: If your balance drops to zero, the bot will pause verifications and display “The server owner is out of ProxyTracer credits.” It will also automatically send a Direct Message to the Server Owner and post a notification in your server’s system channel.
Q: Can a user share their verification link to bypass the check?
A: No. Verification links are securely tied to the specific user’s Discord ID. The bot will reject the verification if the user clicking the link does not match the user who generated it.
